The Famous Transsexual Movies

Boy Meets Girl
Boy Meets Girl is a funny and touching comedy/drama boasting a superlative debut performance by Michelle Hendley. Under the guise of a conventional romantic comedy, this independent feature explores gender politics and sex-positive themes with depth and passion. Boy Meets Girl feels fresh and direct even if it's full of explanations that should have happened years earlier.
Boys Don't Cry
With its constant juxtaposition of blazing nighttime highwayscapes and the flat Nebraska skyline, Boys Don't Cry manages to perfectly evoke both a life spent in aimless forward motion and the stifling boredom Brandon was so desperate to escape. Time has made Kimberly Peirce's dramatic debut about sexual misfit, stunningly played by Hilary Swank, even more, relevant and powerful.
Soldier's Girl
Well, they need to just shut up and open their eyes. Soldier's Girl is not only the best film ever made by and for Showtime, it's also one of the best pictures of the year. This deserved a cinematic release in my opinion. It's better than the majority of films that get released.
Transamerica
Huffman's performance in Transamerica, as a pre-op male-to-female transsexual coping with the sudden emergence of a long-lost son, is much better than the movie it's in; indeed, she singlehandedly takes Transamerica to a higher plane. Huffman's performance is the reason to see this sensitive, and sometimes touching drama.
Tomboy
Tomboy is a lovely reminder that the French have long been famous for a quite different sort of film about children. Writer and director Celine Sciamma adorn the thorny dilemma with resonant allusions to gender roles. Since we are dealing with fresh-faced tweens, we are spared the gender histrionics to be found in the likes of The Crying Game or Boys Don't Cry. Those are indeed bigger films. But sometimes small things can pay off quite nicely.
