Whereas the Jackass guys try to humiliate and hurt each other, the guys on "Double the Fist" (who call themselves "The Fist Team") do things that would obviously kill them. The pursuit of 'Fist', the main aim of the 'contestants' on the show, requires strength, power, knowledge, and most importantly, PAIN! The "Full Fist" will earn an individual the respect and admiration of their fellow peers in the extreme community.Rod Foxx, Steve's brother, considers himself the most extreme professional athlete on the planet, and believes that he can accomplish any physical task and act. Mastermind Australia is the long awaited return of the Mastermind franchise to Australian television after Huw Evans hosted the series over thirty-five years ago. With Jennifer Byrne as host (who I remember winning Celebrity Sale of the Century many years ago and is known for being a smart cookie) the programme - with its compliance with the general format of the show - couldn't fail. It was picked up in 2020 for a further series of 85 episodes. It's good value for SBS Australia, as it's 17 weeks of television produced relatively cheaply and with 100% Australian content (ignoring the licencing fee). It runs at Prime Time and leads into the SBS World News. The programme itself was devised in 1972 by Creator Bill Wright, drawing on his experiences as a prisoner of war in Germany during World War II. For the nervous twitching, toe-tapping, butterflies-in-the-stomach contestants, these are possibly the four most terrifying words on television: “Your time starts now”. With iconic quiz show Mastermind back on Australian television, there’s no predicting who will shine, and who will crumble under the pressure of being in THAT black seat, under the spotlight, facing a rapid gunfire of questions from host Jennifer Byrne. Each of the 4 players will be tested in 2 rounds. The first is 2 minutes on their specialist subject, while the second is 90 seconds of general knowledge. At the end of the week on Friday the four episode winners from the week have to forego their specialist subjet and take on the Australiana round, and the usual General Knowledge section with one further contestant proceeding closer to a Grand Final. It doesn’t matter how well you know your special subject, or how good your general knowledge is, nerves can get the better of you. It’s called the “black chair syndrome”.
HELLO BIRDY is the 'Boofhead's Guide To Birdwatching', according to its star, the inimitable Australian actor William McInnes. In this six part series, William gets up close and personal with some of Australia's diverse birdlife like never before. Have you ever seen a birdwatcher in a malleefowl suit or a giant yellow codpiece? Or someone using the mythical rubber red-bellied black snake to scare off a brush turkey? Have you ever wondered what to say to a horny male emu while brandishing an artificial cloaca (bird's reproductive organ)? No, well, William doesn't have much idea either, and the results are hilarious!--Australia has an amazing variety of wildlife and in particular our bird species are like no other in the world. Our continent has an incredible diversity of ecosystems from the tropics in the north to the temperate regions in the south. Luckily we still have large tracts of wilderness. Conversely, there is a lot our country that has been developed and the land has been cleared for human habitation and use.Our land usage has resulted in extreme paradigms for Australia’s birds. In some instances humans have created perfect habitats for certain species. The introduction of grain crops and watering places for livestock has seen and explosion in some parrot species, to the point where they are classified as pests and have to be culled. In other instances the removal of native vegetation along coastal marsh areas has led to a decline in one parrot that is driving it to extinction, where now it is recognized as one of the rarest and most endangered species in the world.Hello Birdy takes the audience on a journey around Australia to meet our fantastic birds and also the people who are studying and looking after them. Whilst the series is fun and light, the over riding theme of the program is to draw out attention to the plight of our winged neighbours and where they sit in our landscape today. It is hoped that William McInnes’ fun-loving

Along the way, the player can be assisted by a "classmate", one of five cast members, in answering the questions. Homicide was Australia's first major drama series, and the most influential by any measure. Based around murder cases investigated by the Homicide squad at Melbourne's Russell Street police headquarters, Homicide single-handedly established a viable TV drama industry in Australia. Over 11 years and 510 episodes, Homicide acheived massive ratings (peaking at an incredible 54 at one point), made household names of its stars, spawned two sister series- Division 4 and Matlock Police- on rival networks, and still outlived them both! In the twenty-two years since it was last broadcast (in afternoon re-runs), the series has become renowned for its frequent car chases, slightly shonky 1970's fashions, and occasionally stilted dialogue. Some of Australia's best-known actors, writers, and directors got their start on Homicide, and without it- and the successors it generated- Australian drama would be very, very different.
